Alan Hart grew up in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, a suburb of Milwaukee.
He received his BS degree in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin - Madison, and his Law degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School.
Mr. Hart spent several months operating his own legal practice before establishing a law firm with two other attorneys in
Madison

Mr. Hart spent seven years in private practice, practicing law with an emphasis on litigation at the circuit court level.  He has represented hundreds of clients in a wide variety of cases at the federal, state, appellate, and municipal court levels.  His areas of practice included business and other civil litigation, criminal and juvenile court defense, mental health law, real estate transactions, and estate planning.

Operating his own legal practice and serving as a founding partner and principal shareholder in a law firm provided Mr. Hart with background and experience in office management, accounting, document drafting, and staffing, which served him well when he assumed his role as Director of Operations at NorthStar Economics.

Mr. Hart has conducted research for and provided contributions to several NorthStar publications, including an economic impact study for the University of Wisconsin - PlattevilleA Strategic Economic Development Plan for the Town of Saratoga Wyoming, Wisconsin High-Tech Opportunities - a paper principally investigated by NorthStar Vice President / Director of Research Dennis K. Winters and published by the Wisconsin Technology Council, Vision 2020: A Model Wisconsin Economy, and the NorthStar Guide to Growth and Venture Capital for Wisconsin companies.

In addition to handling the administrative functions of the business, Mr. Hart designs and creates graphics for numerous NorthStar publications and presentations, and does thematic mapping for various NorthStar projects.  He also developed and maintains the NorthStar Economics web site.  In his spare time, he plays Texas Hold 'Em and actively participates in community theater.
