There are numerous angel groups currently active in the Midwest and beyond.
 
NATIONWIDE:

 

 

 

 

Active Capital (formerly ACE-Net) is a nationwide internet-based  electronic matchmaking service linking accredited investors to qualified entrepreneurs.

Cornerstone Angels is a private investment organization focused on high growth companies, with a primary focus on the Midwest. They have a disciplined approach to reviewing opportunities, and assembling a select group of investor members and partners that provide meaningful contributions to companies in the form of both direct investment as well as advisory support. Through an affiliate network, Cornerstone Angels has access to investors from other regions of the country, and does have the ability to review strong deal flow that has been vetted in other markets as well. 

Investors' Circle (IC) is a non-profit national network of angel and institutional investors, foundation officers and entrepreneurs who seek to balance financial, social and environmental returns. IC is dedicated to catalyzing the flow of capital to private companies that deliver commercial solutions to social and environmental problems. 

Keiretsu Forum is the largest North American angel investor network of capital, resources and deal flow. Keiretsu Forum members are accredited private equity investors, venture capitalists and corporate / institutional investors who invest in high-quality, diverse investment opportunities in emerging technologies, IT and software, life science / health care / biotech, real estate, media / entertainment and any segment with high-growth opportunity.

Rain Source Capital is a multi-state network of RAIN® funds that works with angel investors who are interested in supporting growing companies. RAIN SourceSM helps bring together like-minded angel investors to form individual RAIN funds ~ and then provides these funds with capital, a process for due diligence, legal templates, management support, access to deal flow and other resources.  RAIN funds share expertise, deals and experience between and among RAIN Source Capital’s multi-state network to support growing companies throughout the area.

ILLINOIS:

 

BioAngels is a not-for-profit corporation whose mission is to facilitate investment in startup and early-stage medical and life sciences businesses in the Midwest.

BlueStem Ventures is a private investment group investing in both mature and early-stage companies.   Bluestem provides both financial and intellectual capital, along with a vast network of industry resources, to high-growth companies.

Heartland Angels, Inc. is a private equity network that brings together accredited investors with early stage start-up companies and real estate opportunities looking for equity and debt investments.

Northern Illinois Angels, a partner of the NIU Executive Club, provides high-potential, early-stage companies with access to a "deep bench" of angel investors and strategic partners for seed and later round financing, as well as a carefully chosen network of firms that offer key business development competencies, including management, marketing and financial expertise, and incubating services.

Stateline Angels is an angel investor organization in the greater Rockford, Illinois area that provides investment capital.  The members have dedicated themselves to fostering growth in the Wisconsin / Illinois Stateline area by assisting individuals to create successful businesses.
 

INDIANA:
AngelNet is a virtual business community providing connections, knowledge, and resources for investors and Indiana businesses.

Indiana Seed Fund is a seed-stage private investment fund designed to be a source of critical pre-venture investment capital for emerging Indiana life sciences companies.

Irish Angels is a network comprised a select group of Notre Dame alumni and friends who are experienced in entrepreneurial endeavors and interested in supporting new venture development.
 

KENTUCKY:

Bluegrass Angels (BGA) seeks to encourage the development of start-up companies and to support new businesses in the Lexington region by providing the region's entrepreneurs with seed capital and management guidance from experienced industry and entrepreneurial veterans.  An important, although not exclusive, focus of the BGA is to develop start-up companies through the commercialization of the on-going research of the University of Kentucky. 

Kentucky Capital Network is a group of accredited investors who get together to review companies for potential investment. The investments can be made by accredited individuals belonging to the Kentucky network or by the network itself as a limited partnership.

MICHIGAN:

 

Ann Arbor Angels (A2A) is a collaborative non-profit organization dedicated to bridging the gap between angel investors and early stage technology-based companies in Southern Michigan. The focus of the organization is to facilitate private equity and debt financing.

Aurora Angels is a newly formed seed/early stage angel capital group composed of and run by angel investors and investment professionals. The group focuses on nurturing high-growth businesses that are developing innovative products and services in the cleantech, alternate energy, advanced materials, automation, telecommunications and Information technology areas.

Grand Angels is an investment group and a West Michigan business and community enriching strategy. The mission of Grand Angels is to utilize financial, intellectual and networking capital to promote the success of growing (i.e., investing, emerging, reorganizing, etc.) companies and to enhance the economic development of the tri-counties of Kent, Ottawa, and Muskegon.

Great Lakes Angels is an angels organization whose mission is to organize and mentor angels and provide a forum for them to grow in knowledge and wealth and foster more of the same - to help invest in entrepreneurial companies in the region.

Southwest Michigan First Angel Network uses Angelsoft to track new submissions and to collaborate with entrepreneurs.  Southwest Michigan First is the catalyst stimulating growth across the Kalamazoo Region.

MINNESOTA:

The Collaborative is a Minnesota-based community of emerging companies, investors and advisors whose goals include fostering entrepreneurship and building better, more profitable companies.

Minnesota Seed Capital Network (MSCN) introduces private investors to high technology firms seeking to raise seed capital ranging from $250,000 to $5 million. 

MISSOURI:

 
The Angel Capital Association, headquartered in Kansas City, is North America's professional alliance of angel groups. This fast-growing association brings together the 200 angel organizations in the United States and Canada to share best practices, network, and help develop data about the field of angel investing.

Centennial Investors provides its members a forum in which to efficiently evaluate promising, early-stage investment opportunities. Membership consists of active, accredited investors who share the goal of making informed, collaborative investments in promising, early-stage mid-Missouri companies.

St. Louis Arch Angels provides opportunities for its members to obtain outstanding financial returns by investing in early-stage companies with high growth potential in the St. Louis Region and accelerating them to market leadership.

OHIO:

C-Cap is a resource hub designed to link entrepreneurs with angel investors and the other resources they need to create successful growth companies. Their mission is to increase the number of growth companies that receive seed capital funding from Cincinnati area angels.

Core Network is a private, independent, and confidential group of individuals who are interested in looking at private equity investment opportunities which may provide an above-average return.  CoreNetwork provides a formal structure to accomplish this in a manner which incorporates community and sponsor support intended to improve the likelihood for success of the investee companies.

Dayton Angel Network provides mentoring help to small, growing businesses in such areas as strategic and business planning, the formation of advisory boards, and fundraising.  Angels, at their discretion, may also choose to invest in these companies directly or in syndications led by institutional investors of the Dayton Investment Network. While monetary investing is not a requirement, it is the primary objective of the Angel Network.

NCIC CapitalFund is an early stage investment company investing in emerging, growth-oriented, technology-based companies.

Ohio TechAngel Fund, LLC is a contributed capital and “sidecar” angel fund with over one hundred members and partners from throughout Ohio. The Fund is interested in engaging qualified entrepreneurs who are developing promising, high-growth Ohio businesses, predominantly in the life sciences, information technology, and physical sciences market sectors.
