Vice President / Director of Research Dennis Winters has over twenty years of experience in economic analysis, modeling and forecasting, encompassing everything from designing commodity derivative strategies to long-term policy initiative scenario assessments. Mr. Winters' areas of focus include regional and national macroeconomics, energy and labor markets, and economic impact analysis. investigative bodies and appeared in television and radio interviews and has been quoted in the national press such as the Wall Street Journal, Investors Daily, USA Today, the Journal of Commerce, and the equivalent of Swedish Business Week, as well as many local newspapers. Mr. Winters’ recent work in Wisconsin includes Wisconsin's High-Tech Opportunities - a paper published by the Wisconsin Technology Council in 2001, and Comparing Economic Development Strategies Across Neighboring States - a background paper for the Wisconsin Economic Summit II. In addition, Mr. Winters was the principal investigator and co-author of Wisconsin's Economy in the Year 2010, published by University of Wisconsin - Madison in May of 2000. He also authored Sustaining Wisconsin's Economic Prosperity, a white paper for the Wisconsin Economic Summit in November of 2000. Mr. Winters has recently conducted several studies on the value of higher education in economic development, including Madison Area Technical College's Economic Contribution to the Region, The University of Wisconsin System’s Economic Contribution to Wisconsin, and Kansas Higher Education’s Economic Contribution to the State. He serves on the Executive Planning Committee for the Wisconsin Economic Summits, as well as Dane County’s Economic Strategies Group. Mr. Winters has held senior positions at Wharton Econometric Forecasting Associates (WEFA), DRI / McGraw-Hill, the Executive Office of Energy Resources for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and Clayton Brokerage Company of St. Louis, Missouri. He has also served on the faculty at Fisher College in Boston, Massachusetts, and the Institute of Gas Technology (now the Gas Technology Institute) in Chicago, Illinois. Dennis Winters was educated
at the University of Wisconsin - Madison and
Colorado State University. He
also coaches a high school rugby team and continues to try to hit a
baseball.
