Recreational trout angling contributes more than $1.1 billion per year to the regional economy in the Driftless Area, comprised of parts of southeastern Minnesota, southwestern Wisconsin, northeastern Iowa, and northwestern Illinois. NorthStar Economics was retained by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction to study the economic impact of public libraries in Wisconsin. Wisconsin public libraries contribute to the Wisconsin economy and are of growing importance to the citizens of the state. The total economic contribution of Wisconsin public libraries to the Wisconsin economy is $753,699,545. The return on investment in library services is $4.06 for each dollar of taxpayer investment. DAVID J. WARD RECOMMENDED AS INTERIM CHANCELLOR AT UW-GREEN BAY |

University of Wisconsin System President Kevin P. Reilly has recommended David J. Ward as the interim chancellor for UW-Green Bay. If approved by the UW System Board of Regents, Dr. Ward will step into the position on June 23, 2008. It is anticipated that the interim appointment will last for approximately 6 months, during which time Dr. Ward will take a leave of absence from NorthStar Economics. During his temporary absence, NorthStar Senior Associate Bruce Siebold will serve as NorthStar's interim president. Dr. Ward expects to return to NorthStar on a full-time basis in early 2009. |
