The Community Development Venture Capital Alliance (CDVCA) is the trade association for the rapidly growing community development venture capital industry. Formed in 1993 and incorporated as a not-for-profit in 1995, CDVCA promotes use of the tools of venture capital to create jobs, entrepreneurial capacity and wealth to advance the livelihoods of low-income people and the economies of distressed communities.

The Wisconsin Biotechnology and Medical Device Association (WBMDA) was founded in 1987 (as the Wisconsin Biotechnology Association) by private biotechnology companies to promote the growth of biotechnology in Wisconsin. The 2008 Wisconsin Governor’s Business Plan Contest is managed by the Wisconsin Technology Council and is the nation’s first statewide, tech-based business plan competition. Since its inception in 2004, more than 1000 entrepreneurs from more than 100 Wisconsin communities have taken part. Winners have shared in more than $650,000 in cash and in-kind prizes.
